We took a vacation. First one in 8 years.
Where we visited: MiLe, Kunming, DaLi, Yunnan
This is the hot springs resort capital of the world. Search online: MiLe, Yunnan China.
We spent 10 days there. We were lucky to find a brand new homestay style hotel. Large room. Hot spring tub right in the bathroom. Three meals a day. Laundry included. $16 per day, per person.
For context: a high-end hotel in the USA with those kinds of inclusions would run $350 to $600 per night—before meals and laundry. Here, it's $32 for two of us. Total. Unreal.

Every morning and evening we enjoyed a walk around the lake after breakfast and dinner. The weather in Yunnan is like heaven—springtime year-round.
We returned home Sept 29th 2026.
It still hot here in Jiftip HQ, happy endings capital of the world, but cooling down mid-October. We planned our return to avoid the October 1st travel rush. That's when China's week-long National Day holiday begins. They call it "Golden Week." Like July 4th Independence day, but here every one gets 7 days off to celebrate instead of one day.
You do not want to be a tourist or traveling during that time. We're stayed put.
